The Ried Kapuzinerberg is a basin-shaped vineyard facing south/southwest. The terrace’s subsoil consists of calcareous conglomerate containing crystalline quartz rock from the Urdonau. On top of this lies a layer of loess that is more than 25 meters thick in places, allowing our old vines to develop a root system deeply anchored in the soil.

Tasting Notes from the Cellar Master

Tropical hints of grapefruit & lime; with a little air, a mineral, fine creaminess develops that integrates the fragrant exotic notes perfectly. With taut spice of white pepper and yellow fruit, this Grüner Veltliner is a great example of a loess-terrace Veltliner with very good ageing potential.

Food Recommendation from the Cellar Master

Wonderful with melon and ham, mushroom dishes and food with rich sauces; also an interesting companion to cream cheese and blue cheese; a fine match for a classic vintner’s platter and spicy dishes such as spaghetti aglio e olio, perhaps even spiced up with a little chilli.

Sommelier bei der Weinverkostung
Pale “candy pink” to salmon colour; on the nose a fine play of fruit with cherries, berries and other fruity notes; on the palate hints of Zweigelt, with elegant, juicy acidity and subtle fruit sweetness creating a charming combination – lively, light-footed and spirited, clean and coquettish, of remarkable quality and well received. A great outdoor wine with the potential to become a favourite at summer barbecues.
